The ISI of Pakistan Established by British officer Major General Robert Cawthorne. He becomes the Pakistan Army's deputy chief of staff, after the Indo-Pakistani War of 1947-48. Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence Agency (ISI) has been an underdeveloped and obscure agency for years. Although it played a key role during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979. its activities were largely ignored by the public. it worked for hand in hand with the CIA to aid the mujahideen.

The ISI of Pakistan is written by Hein Kiessling. Politician and historian, he resided in Pakistan from 1989 to 2002. He spent four years in Quetta and nine in Islamabad. he developed intimate relationships with Pakistan's political, military, and intelligence elites during that time period. His efforts were recognized in 2002. he was awarded the Federal Republic of Germany's Order of Merit.
